Cognition and voluntary action are one and the same thing. The third edition of Cognition is organized around this central thesis. The text is a description of how the mind works rather than a description of the kinds of experiments that cognitive psychologists perform. It is enlivened with many practical examples and anecdotes. A special effort is made to show how the different cognitive functions, action, perception, attention, etc., all overlap.
