Commanche Territory

Chief Red Claw's Comanche raiders are armed with modern rifles sold by an arms-dealing outfit more interested in profit than in who gets hurt. Settlers across the frontier are losing their homes to fire, theft and murder. With few options left, the Army turns to Clay Coleman, a former trail scout whom it had once dismissed for ignoring the rules.

On his way west, Clay saves a mail-order bride from a Comanche war party and then finds his old partner, Shoshone Sam. The two scouts must rely on their skill with a rifle and their knowledge of the land to take on Red Claw's warriors and the gunrunners who supply them, all while badly outnumbered.

The story follows their attempt to restore some measure of order to the frontier, with Clay's own future and his feelings for the woman he rescued hanging in the balance.
