Consultant

Consultant follows a man whose professional skill lies in restructuring, though his real trade is arranging deaths. His methods are quiet and precise: a prescription swapped, a mechanism made to fail, and every case closes as an ordinary, unremarkable loss. Nobody has ever questioned his work, and his superiors consistently rate it as outstanding. He has never had a personal connection to any of his targets, until his next assignment turns out to be someone he knows and cares about. The job begins to weigh on him, and he starts to look closely at the organisation he serves, a faceless enterprise whose full reach he has never seen. As he uncovers how much it does, he realises how simply it could stage one more flawless killing. The novel asks how far he will go to break free of the Company, and how far the Company will go to keep him from doing so.
