Countdown to Midnight

Nick Flynn returns in this follow-up to Arctic Storm Rising, which follows a former U.S. Air Force officer now pulled into a secret struggle against a Russian and Iranian partnership that has obtained a frightening new weapon. Flynn has taken a job with a secretive intelligence organization whose origins reach back to the early Cold War, but his first assignment for them nearly costs him his life. While meeting a senior Iranian dissident in the Austrian Alps, he is ambushed, and at that same moment he learns that Tehran and Moscow are collaborating on a covert program they have named MIDNIGHT.

Flynn is determined to learn what MIDNIGHT conceals. Why are Moscow and Tehran secretly refitting a huge oil tanker at an Iranian port? What is the purpose of the project, conceived by Pavel Voronin, a merciless billionaire with close ties to Russia's authoritarian president? Flynn and his new team intend to shut it down, but at every turn they are hunted by Voronin's hired Raven Syndicate killers, elite operatives drawn from Russia's special forces and intelligence services.

The chase carries them from the streets of Vienna into the heart of hostile Iran, where Flynn and his crew must repeatedly risk their lives to see through the web of deception surrounding this hidden conflict. Time is running out, because Voronin plans to unleash his terrifying weapon on the United States, an attack that could kill hundreds of millions and permanently reshape the global balance of power. The odds against Flynn and his team are steep, but Flynn has a long record of defying them.
