Dance on Screen

Sherril Dodds surveys the many forms dance takes on screen. Her overview places dance within screen media, then works through case studies drawn from everyday dance imagery in music videos and Hollywood films, up to experimental art dance. The book then concentrates on video dance, works choreographed specifically for the camera. Dodds presents video dance as a hybrid form that moves across, and unsettles, the theoretical and aesthetic lines separating dance from television.
