About this book
Painful experiences from the past can plant lies that we come to accept as truth: that we have little worth, that we fall short, and that we will never be enough. Once we take those messages in, they harden into a guarded, damaging outlook that misrepresents both who we are and who God is.
Johnson, a celebrity stylist, knows this from her own life. For years she carried the fallout of a harmful relationship with her father, which shaped how she saw herself and God. From the outside she had a glamorous career among famous clients, but privately she was in despair, and her polished image hid the happiness she lacked. The book traces how she faced insecurity, fear, divorce, and heartbreak, how she worked through forgiveness and let go of bitterness, and how she found a new direction.
The author encourages readers to drop the act and live authentically. She offers guidance on building acceptance, self-love, and self-worth, and on confronting the negative self-talk and limiting beliefs that may have held readers back for years. Her central message is that every person has a rightful place in God's kingdom, and that readers can pursue their purpose and build the fulfilling life they deserve.
Tracci Johnson is a master celebrity stylist and the owner of Legacci Salon. She previously owned Eclipse Salon on Melrose and founded the Ruth Group, a women's ministry. Her work has been featured on ABC's Extreme Makeover, the Oscars, the Grammys, the BET Awards, the Image Awards, in films, music videos, and television shows, and in publications such as In Style, Essence, and Sophisticates Black Hair.
