Dark Remnants

Kyra is working undercover in Abstreuse City, the most murderous city in the nation, and she would rather handle things on her own. She has to ask herself whether she would confront a serial killer to protect her brother. When she overhears a scheme to kill a large share of the city's police officers, she must decide what to do. She shouts a warning at a good-looking detective she barely knows and assumes that is the end of it.

It is not. The same detective turns up at her employer's estate, where a body is floating in the pool. That is far from the only death in the city. Sex workers keep turning up dead, and Kyra believes the killings are connected. If she cannot work out how, more people may vanish into the city's dim alleys and never be seen again.

This is a dark, gritty urban thriller with secret serial killers and a brooding detective. Kyra and Gabe race through the city in a fast-moving chase, and the story rests on the idea that darkness exists in everyone.
