Dark Room

On Christmas Eve seventeen years ago, young Morgan Winter walked into a Brooklyn basement and found her parents dead. Now new evidence has thrown doubt on the conviction of the man who was blamed, and Morgan has come to believe the person who really killed them is still free.

Shaken and desperate for answers, she turns to Pete "Monty" Montgomery, a former NYPD detective who worked her parents' case at the start. Now a private investigator, Monty once promised the frightened child that he would find the killer. Working from a single old case file and the original crime scene photographs, he brings in his son Lane, a photojournalist who secretly analyzes images for the CIA. Lane is a daredevil who thrives on gambling and risk, but this case feels different to him.

The killer has never stopped keeping an eye on Morgan and guarding a hidden secret. As she pushes harder for the truth, she is pulled back into the past and into a present that grows more dangerous by the day. Lane is getting closer to the answer, though what he uncovers may wound Morgan more deeply than anyone could have expected.
