Day 7
About This Book
Day 7 asks what the meaning and purpose of human life is. Grounded in Biblical revelation and written within the Church's confession of faith, it argues that God created human beings both to work and to practice true leisure. The book looks at the challenges of human work. It also presents and embraces the classic understanding of leisure as contemplation and festival celebration. Drawing on the insights of Martin Luther, it brings these two apparently contradictory views of human purpose together in the idea of the receptive life. The book argues that living receptively is the right way to keep the sabbath.
