About this book
Dead Ever After is the thirteenth and last novel in Charlaine Harris's Sookie Stackhouse series, also known as the Southern Vampire Mysteries, which inspired the HBO show True Blood. Sookie is a telepathic waitress in the small Louisiana town of Bon Temps, and over the course of the series she has been drawn into the affairs of the vampires and other supernatural creatures living alongside the human residents.
Here, a shocking murder shakes the town, and Sookie finds that her troubles reach back further than she thought. More than one person is waiting to settle an old score with her, and the danger comes from grudges built up over years rather than from a single stranger.
The book offers no easy answers. In Bon Temps, what people call truth is often just a convenient lie, what passes for justice tends to mean more blood spilled, and love, when it comes, may not be enough. For readers who have followed Sookie from the start, this is the story that closes her chapter.
