Dead Find

Work on the Old Course at St Andrews uncovers a body in a shallow grave, its skull bearing two bullet wounds. DNA testing identifies the dead man as Rab Shepherd, the missing younger brother of Jock Shepherd, a Scottish crime boss who has since died. Rab had walked away from the family trade more than twenty years earlier and settled in Australia, where he was reported to have lived a respectable and prosperous life. The grave suggests otherwise.

Who killed Rab, and why? Anyone who did so would have known whose brother he was. DCI Andy Gilchrist and his colleague DS Jessie Janes take on the murder inquiry, and it leads them through a series of executions, torture, double-crossing and betrayal to a criminal secret with the power to threaten the UK government.
