Debbie Mullen writes the advice column Dear Debbie, where the wives of New England turn for sympathy and neighborly guidance. Over the years she has heard from countless women whose husbands ignore, belittle or even abuse them, and she has always done her best to steer them in the right direction. At least, she used to.
