Dominion

Dominion, Mississippi, is a small town in which Reverend Sabre Winfrey holds nearly all the power. He leads the Seven Seals Baptist Church, owns a barbershop and a radio station, and believes in God, in his own privilege and in his enterprises. He controls almost every part of life in the town.

Sabre and his wife, Priscilla, have five sons. The youngest, Emanuel, is known as Wonderboy because no one sings more sweetly, runs faster or draws more admiring looks. After an unexpected meeting with a stranger, Wonderboy is forced to face questions he never imagined, and his response sends shock waves through the whole community.

The story is told through the women who love these two men. This tense Southern family drama shows how people go along with the everyday violence and casual sins of patriarchy.
