Eilande

The story spans roughly fifty years after the Dutch established themselves at the Cape. It begins from within the Goringhaicona, a Khoi community ruled by Autshumao, whom English travellers nicknamed "Chief Harry."

Rather than following a single narrator, the novel moves through a series of sections, each centred on a different man connected to Pieternella, Autshumao's great niece. Through these shifting perspectives, the book traces the early encounters between the Khoi people and the newcomers.
