Equinox

Nothing in this fantasy is quite what it seems. Its world is shaped by war, witchcraft and hidden truths. Every person here carries two separate identities, a day brother and a night brother, and the two take turns as the sun rises and sets. One has never seen the light, while the other has never known the dark.

Christophor Morden belongs to a special unit of witch hunters serving the king. One evening he is roused before dawn and called to the city prison, where a young woman has torn out her own eyes. The police suspect a supernatural cause. The case draws Christophor far from home, to a village on the kingdom's far edge, where he is destined to find the witch at the heart of the matter. His night brother, meanwhile, becomes desperate to save her.

As the struggle between the two sides of his nature grows fiercer, an ancient and apocalyptic ritual performed by the witch moves steadily toward completion.
