Eritrea

This volume gathers essays that examine the political and social foundations on which Eritrea's nationhood and sovereignty rest. Its authors treat these foundations as both ideas and practices that Eritreans need to keep in view as a matter of national necessity.

The contributors frame their work as an intellectual undertaking that parallels the thirty years of guerrilla struggle through which Eritrea won its independent statehood. The chapters are presented as a continuing effort to think through what sustains that independence.

The collection was edited by Bereket H. Selassie and includes contributions from Awet T. Weldemichael, Samuel Emaha Tsegai, Assefaw Tekeste, Mohamed Kheir Omer, Anghesom Atsbaha, Ghirmai Negash, Abdulrazig K. Osman, Daniel Teklai and Ismail Omar-Ali.
