Escape Game
About This Book
As Germany's bombing campaign against England took hold in the Second World War, Beryl Clarke set aside her university studies and returned to Leeds. There she tends to her mother and works as a secretary for Waddington, a company that makes games. Her brother James is flying combat missions in the air. When his plane is shot down, he is wounded and taken prisoner. In captivity he meets Kenneth Bordelon, an American prisoner of war and a college friend from years earlier, and the two start planning how to break out of the German camp that holds them. Beryl has heard that the Red Cross is sending prisoners a board game that conceals escape plans. The problem is how to warn the men about the game's hidden purpose without the guards discovering it.
