Lauren Gibbs has built a career reporting from war zones around the world. Years ago, the promise of a happily-ever-after was taken from her, and she has kept moving forward without looking back. Yet a single question keeps following her: why does her life feel so empty?

Emily Anderson is a college freshman who was raised by her grandparents and is about to begin her first journalism internship. Before she can step into that new chapter, she uncovers the story of a romance that ended in tragedy at the moment she was born. Drawn to that past, she sets out to find the mother she has never known. Karen Kingsbury, a novelist known for faith-centered fiction, follows these lives as they are shaped by loss, love, and a lasting hope in resurrection.
