About this book
This picture book introduces young children to fairness between genders, the variety of people in the world, and the importance of acceptance and inclusion. Its central message is that every child has the right to become who they want to be, no matter their gender, race, physical appearance or abilities.
The book belongs to the Little BIG Chats series, which helps parents, caregivers and teachers hold open, age-appropriate conversations with early learners about challenging subjects, using picture books as the starting point. Some pages pose questions for the child to consider together with an adult, and discussion questions for adults appear on the inside back cover of each book. Adults are encouraged to pause at any point and follow the child's lead wherever the conversation goes. It is suitable for ages 2 to 6.
The series contains 12 titles. Five of them deal with body safety and are best read in this order: Consent, My Safety Network, My Early Warning Signs, Private Parts are Private, and Secrets and Surprises. The remaining titles can be read in any order.
