Evolutionary Computation, Machine Learning and Data Mining in Bioinformatics

This volume gathers the peer-reviewed papers from EvoBIO 2013, the eleventh European conference on evolutionary computation, machine learning and data mining applied to bioinformatics. The meeting took place in Vienna, Austria, in April 2013, alongside the Evo* 2013 gatherings EuroGP, EvoCOP, EvoMUSART and EvoApplications.

From a large pool of submissions, the organisers selected 10 full research papers and 9 poster contributions. Together they examine biological data analysis and computational biology. The work ranges from questions at the molecular and genomic scale to those concerning individual organisms and whole populations. Many of the contributions take their methods from natural biological systems and apply them to concrete biological problems.
