About this book
This edition has been revised for Excel 2021 and builds on earlier books in the series, written for previous versions of Excel, that sold well. It is a how-to guide to programming in Excel, intended for readers who already know their way around the spreadsheet interface.
The book's aim is to help readers hand repetitive spreadsheet work over to code. Programming concepts are introduced gradually through many illustrated exercises, and the more advanced material is taught through larger custom projects.
The early chapters cover recording a macro and then editing it, followed by writing VBA code from scratch. Later topics include customizing the Ribbon and working with XML documents. The book also shows how to automate operations on files and folders and in other Microsoft Office applications.
Further chapters address event procedures and the methods for testing and debugging code. For more advanced Excel features, the book explains how to work with VBA classes and how to create and raise your own events in standalone class modules.
The companion files include the source code, the hands-on projects, and the figures from the book.
