Skyler Ruiz has landed a reporting job at a television station in San Diego, trading local softball games and vegetable-growing contests for a bigger stage. Her new newsroom also employs Caroline McNamara, the anchorwoman she has admired from afar for years.

Caroline, however, has little patience for rookies, and her cold reception leaves Skyler's hopes of winning her over in pieces. Once Caroline lowers her defenses, though, Skyler finds herself caught up in a romance she never saw coming.

The network then sets the two women against each other as rivals. As Skyler becomes ready to give up the career she has worked toward for Caroline's sake, she begins to wonder whether love can be trusted at all.
