Exhumed

Dr David Reynolds, a world-renowned haematologist, is pulled out of a medical conference in Sydney and told his expertise is needed on a top-secret case at the ECDC in Stockholm, Sweden. Once there, he is even more puzzled to find himself in a room full of professionals from very unlikely fields. A linguist, a historian, a psychologist and an occultist are among them, and he cannot see what he could have in common with any of them.

His confusion turns to disbelief when the group is finally told why they were summoned. An archaeological dig in Romania has uncovered something buried for centuries. It should be nothing more than skeletal remains, yet it is still alive, thirsting, lusting and scheming.

An ancient vampire has been released from his tomb and is slowly regaining his strength. Held as a prisoner at the ECDC, he plans his escape with a single aim: revenge on those who entombed him centuries ago. Dr Reynolds is drawn into a conflict of vengeance and pure hatred that stretches across millennia, and he alone holds the key to containing it before the consequences become dire for all of humankind.
