Extraordinary Albert
About This Book
Albert is a young gorilla born with unusually large feet. His parents love him dearly and consider him remarkable, and they see his oversized feet as just as much a part of him as anything else. When he is small, Albert delights in them, but as he grows they start to feel more like a weight he has to carry. Still, his parents' affection never wavers, and there are moments when those feet prove useful after all. His friend Rex admires Albert's feet, while Albert mostly regards them as a nuisance. One day the two gorillas are playing in the woods when a sudden storm breaks out. Frightened, they try to find their way home by retracing their steps. Heavy rain washes away the small prints they leave behind, but Albert's large footprints remain visible and show them the path back. The next day Albert's feet still get in his way, but he no longer minds them much. Told with light humor and warmth, the book follows a gentle gorilla who is a little different from the others and is aimed at children aged four and up.
