Fannie

Fannie offers a feminist reimagining of Fantine, the character from Les Misérables, and is written by a Costa Award shortlisted author.

The story begins in Montreuil-sur-Mer in 1815. Fannie works long hours at a factory, and her memories of her 'gentleman' and her daughter are what keep her going.

When her status as an unmarried mother becomes known, she loses her job and must take ever greater risks to earn money for her child. What can she still sell, whom can she trust, and is there any way out? The novel is a portrait of desperation, but also of love and hope.
