This second edition revises and extends What It Is and Why It Matters, the earlier book on fascia. It starts with the basics of fascia as a tissue that surrounds, supports, and permeates muscles, bones, nerves, and organs. From there, the author leads readers through the entire body as seen through the fascial system, stopping often to explain what counts most in each area and why it matters to the body.

The topics include the new rules of biomechanics, biotensegrity, cellular processes, musculoskeletal problems, proprioception, neuroscience and cognition, somatic dysfunction, and restoration. The author ties these subjects together with a look at the history of science, a storytelling approach, a sense of humor, and a sense of wonder.
