Fatal crossroads

On a winter day in December 1944, during the Battle of the Bulge, an SS unit gathered and killed more than eighty American soldiers who had already laid down their arms. The killings took place near Malmedy, a small Belgian town built around a crossroads. Over thirty of the men survived to describe what happened, yet the events of that day are still disputed.

Danny S. Parker spent fifteen years examining primary documents and speaking with more than one hundred witnesses. His aim was to establish what actually happened at Malmedy, and the account he builds from that work is gripping.
