About this book
Siri Lindley set out to become a triathlon world champion without knowing how to swim. She also hoped to love and be loved, though her father rejected her because she is gay, and to fully enjoy the life she had built with her wife, her career, and her horses. In November 2019, she was diagnosed with a rare and usually fatal form of acute myeloid leukemia.
Lindley is now cancer free, a triathlon world champion, and happily married. She is also one of the most popular coaches and motivational speakers around. The book is written for readers who feel caught between the life they hope to lead and the life they are living now. Drawing on her own experience, it offers tools and strategies for working through hard times and coming out the other side stronger.
Her central argument is that readers already have what they need. Each of us, Lindley suggests, decides which story we are living in at any moment, what we believe is possible, and what our difficulties will mean. The book shows how to reframe the personal narratives that shape our lives, so that readers can lower their defenses, open up, and accept the love, joy, and fulfillment they deserve.
