For Her Firstborn

Dee Riverflower has always wanted to be a mother. But she is a tiny hauflin in a dangerous world, and she knows how risky it would be to bring a child into her vulnerable community. Her solution is to summon a demon, strike a bargain and carry his child, since the demonic blood will give the baby enough power to survive.

Then Dee gets to know the demon, Ingron, and finds herself drawn to his unexpected kindness and his interest in her. What was meant to be a simple transaction becomes something deeper, and she begins to dread the day the bargain is fulfilled. She must decide whether losing Ingron is a sacrifice she is willing to make for her firstborn, or whether there is any way to keep them both.

For Her Firstborn is a fantasy romance novelette, suited to fans of Critical Role and Baldur's Gate 3.
