Forging Destiny

This follow-up to Reclaiming Honor is written by Marc Alan Edelheit, the bestselling and award-winning author of Stiger's Tigers and the Karus Saga, alongside national bestselling author Quincy J. Allen. The story is told from the viewpoint of the dwarves.

Tovak is an outcast among his own kind, scorned by his people and burdened by the disgrace his family has brought upon itself. He has nevertheless proven his bravery in battle, more than once risking his own life to save his comrades. Not everyone accepts him, but he has earned a place as a skirmisher in the Baelix Guard Company. His faith in his god, his resolve, and his courage keep him moving forward.

When his section is sent behind enemy lines on a perilous mission against the Horde, the lives of his people may depend on its success. Something is stirring in Tovak, a power he cannot explain that seems to be drawing him toward a destiny he cannot yet see. He worries that he is losing his mind, yet he refuses to abandon his duty, since the warband needs every fighter it can muster. Brutal battles lie ahead, and Tovak may prove either the key to his people's survival or the cause of their ruin, for the gods are entangled in the conflict to come.

Tovak must come to terms with his past and the stigma he carries, work out what the power within him means, and shape his own fate, even at the risk of his life. Set on the world of Tannis, some years before Karus and the Lost Legio IX arrive, this is a Last War novel.
