Fortune’s Ashes

The narrator has picked up an unwanted gift: she now catches glimpses of what is yet to come. She can't rid herself of it, and Lukas, the person she shares it with, wants nothing to do with it. Her working life isn't going well either. A rival has come forward insisting that they alone are the genuine phoenix and that her whole identity rests on a lie.

To take her mind off these troubles, she turns to a cold case: the vanishing of an enterprising gremlin. She expects the investigation to keep her busy and focused, and she assumes nothing else will go wrong and no one will be hurt.

Fortune's Ashes is the seventh and final volume of the urban fantasy Firebrand series. The earlier books are Brimstone Bound, Infernal Enchantment, Midnight Smoke, Scorched Heart, Dark Whispers and A Killer's Kiss.
