Foundation’s Friends

Edited by Martin H. Greenberg, Foundation's Friends gathers seventeen works of short fiction written in and around the Foundation universe that Isaac Asimov created. The pieces range from short stories to novelettes and novellas, so readers can choose between brief outings and longer narratives.

The contributors include Pamela Sargent, Robert Silverberg, Connie Willis, Harry Turtledove, Orson Scott Card, Frederik Pohl and Poul Anderson, among others. Their stories include "Strip-Runner," "Plato's Cave," "Carhunters of the Concrete Prairie," "The Overheard Conversation" and "The Originist." Several pieces are mysteries or comic tales, while others examine the Foundation's ideas and history from new angles.

The volume opens with prefaces by Ray Bradbury and Ben Bova and closes with afterwords by Janet Asimov and Isaac Asimov.
