Frightfully Fortune

Every year Sinful holds its Halloween festival, and Fortune, Ida Belle, and Gertie look forward to the food, games, and fun. This year the celebration takes a grim turn when a corpse comes thundering through the park astride a black horse and pulls up, headless, in front of Swamp Team 3.

Gil Forrest was not well liked in life, and his grisly appearance is unlikely to win him any new friends. He was supposed to be resting in a funeral home, so no one can say how he ended up on horseback in the middle of town. The circumstances are odd enough that Fortune and her friends believe something more is going on than a cruel stunt, and they intend to find out what.

This is part of Jana DeLeon's Miss Fortune Mysteries, a cozy mystery series set in the Louisiana town of Sinful, where the humor is as dry as the bayou heat.
