Frozen Crown

Askia holds the title of heir to the Frozen Crown of Seravesh, earned through her devotion to her people. Now her country is under threat from the Roven Empire, whose mad emperor has sent a horde of soldiers to enslave her lands. For months her warriors have fought a quiet, stealthy campaign, but they cannot halt the enemy's advance, and sheer willpower will not be enough to save the realm.

With time running out, Askia sails to Vishir, the sun-drenched land to the south, to ask its ruler, Emperor Armaan, for help. Raised in army camps, she is poorly prepared for the tangled politics of the Vishir court. Each step pulls her deeper into intrigues that confuse and repel her, and leaves her exposed to enemies massing at the city gates as well as to those behind the palace walls.

In a glittering court where secrets are worth more than gold, Askia has the most dangerous secret of all: she is a witch with magical abilities, and if it came out, it could destroy her and her people. As her adversaries close in, she must make an impossible choice, and whatever she decides may still not be enough to stop Seravesh from falling.
