Gabriel

'His name was Gabriel Archer, and he was my husband for eleven months. He died at twenty-three, a few days before my nineteenth birthday. Ten years later, on my twenty-ninth, he came back to haunt me.' Dinah knows Gabriel is dead—she had seen the broken body of the man she loved so deeply—yet ten years after his death she receives a birthday card printed in gold lettering 'To My Darling Wife' and there inside is the signature she remembers so well, 'Love, Gabriel'. From then on, things become stranger and stranger. She meets a small boy called Ben who addresses her by name and reminds her of photos of Gabriel when he was the same age. Ben attaches himself to Dinah and she finds herself torn by emotional conflict. Is Ben a reincarnation of Gabriel? And why does he try to kill them both…? Lisa Tuttle, a young American writer permanently resident in London, has won the SWFA Nebula Award. With Gabriel she establishes herself as a writer of merit.
