Gallipoli

This military history traces the Allied campaign against the Ottoman Empire in the Dardanelles, which began in 1915 as a plan to force open a sea route to Constantinople. Michael Hickey follows the operation from moments when a decisive result seemed within reach to the final, costly collapse of the effort.

The book examines both the courage of the Allied soldiers and the command decisions that undermined them. It is written for general readers interested in the First World War and in how a promising strategy could go so badly wrong.
