About this book
The Duke de Richleau and his three close friends have survived great dangers in Russia, Spain and Nazi Germany. Now a different kind of threat appears. Rex van Ryn, the fourth member of the group, has vanished, and he has taken more than a million dollars from the Buenos Aires branch of his family's bank.
The search takes the Duke and Richard Eaton to Argentina, where polite and courteous society hides a conspiracy of terror and silence. The story opens with the discovery of a young woman named Nella, found murdered and mutilated in her bed. As they follow the trail, it leads them toward the Devil himself.
The novel is by Dennis Wheatley, the English author known for his adventure thrillers and his stories of black magic and the occult. It is one of his books about the Duke de Richleau and his circle of friends: the Duke, Richard Eaton, Simon Aron and Rex van Ryn.
