Gleanings

Gleanings is a collection of stories set in the Arc of a Scythe universe, following the three novels that came before it. Its tales move back and forth across the series' timeline, from the centuries after the Thunderhead first took humanity under its watch to the era when Scythe Goddard works to upend that whole arrangement.

In this society, hunger, illness and death have been done away with, and Scythes are the people charged with keeping the population in check. Their role sits at the heart of every story, whether the setting is a distant past or a time closer to the events readers already know.

Readers who have followed the main characters through the first three books will learn what lies behind their journeys and how certain figures came to be. The collection also introduces new Scythes, new antagonists, and characters who sit somewhere between hero and foe.

Neal Shusterman, known for the Unwind series, wrote the book with six collaborators: David Yoon, Jarrod Shusterman, Sofía Lapuente, Michael H. Payne, Michelle Knowlden and Joelle Shusterman. Together they show how wide, frightening and gripping the world is that began with Scythe, the Printz Honor-winning first novel.
