About this book
Grace Bak is seventeen, junior class vice president, and certain of her path: she will become a doctor like her parents. The pressure she puts on herself has grown so heavy that it brings on panic attacks, and they have pushed her to the edges of school life, including away from a longtime friend she has a crush on. Then her grandmother, her halmeoni and the person who held her small family together after her mother died of cancer, passes away too.
To work through the grief, Grace starts a webcomic called Sun God, built on the Korean myths her halmeoni told her as a child. It follows the god Haemosu and his love Yuhwa, who have been cursed into teenage bodies and forced to sit through high school. Grace never expects anyone to read it, but the comic goes viral, and its new fandom somehow calls the real Haemosu into the mortal world.
Now Grace has to send Hae home. The trouble is that she is falling for him, and the idea of him leaving is the last thing she wants. He is not the only god her comic has pulled back, either. Hae's sworn enemy has returned as well, bent on destroying him and spreading a deadly disease among humans along the way.
With a battle between gods coming and Hae stripped of his powers, it may fall to Grace to stand against a vengeful god who will punish anyone in his path. The book is by Kat Cho, author of Once Upon a K-Prom.
