About this book
Do you feel broken, cracked, or just a little chipped? The author wrote this book for women who feel that way, and her hope is that reading her story and applying the lessons she learned will bring healing. Lillyan Jiles grew up with serious trauma, and as an adult she built a polished, outwardly perfect life, hoping the past would stay buried. It did not. When that façade collapsed, the old pain returned. She was left fragile and struggling, suffered panic attacks, and eventually became too afraid to leave home.
In therapy, her counselor suggested she write down the events of her life to release the past and view it from a different angle. Going Through grew out of that process. Seeing everything on paper helped her identify the behaviors her childhood experiences had produced and begin to change them. Her account is honest and unfiltered, and she invites readers who see parts of themselves in her experience to walk through it with her.
The book ends with a faith-centered transformation. The author presents her story as a personal testimony of change she attributes to God.
