Good Samaritans

Seth Beauman lies awake at night and dials numbers from his old phone book, looking for someone to talk to. Upstairs, his wife Maeve is asleep. One night a misdirected call reaches him instead of a crisis line: the caller is Hadley Serf, who is contemplating suicide and believes she has reached the Samaritans.

What begins as a private late-night habit gradually changes. Their phone conversations give way to meetings in daylight, and a strained, unhealthy romance starts to take shape between them. The story then takes a far darker turn once Seth brings Hadley back to his home, and it becomes clear that someone else is paying attention.

The novel is a dark, provocative and fast-moving crime story from Will Carver, a writer known for his crime fiction.
