Great Circle
About This Book
Marian Graves is driven by a need for freedom and danger. Her life takes her from a wild childhood in Prohibition-era America to wartime London, from the rugged shores of New Zealand to a lonely ice shelf in Antarctica. She grows up in Montana, raised by an uncle alongside her twin brother, Jamie. Determined to live independently, she resists the pull of her childhood sweetheart and moves through a series of glamorous lovers. What consumes her most, however, is an obsession with flying. As she is about to achieve her greatest ambition, a flight around the globe from pole to pole, Marian crash-lands in a perilous wilderness of ice. More than half a century later, Hadley Baxter, a troubled film star, is drawn to play the enigmatic pilot on screen. The role leads her to an unexpected discovery that casts new light on the story of the unknowable Marian Graves. The novel is by Maggie Shipstead.
