Greatest

Grandpa looks forward to Sundays, when his three grandchildren come to visit. They put on plays, catch fireflies in the yard and celebrate Jewish holidays together. The children shower him with affection and admiration.

Still, he sometimes wonders why they think he is so great. Should he tell them he is just an ordinary man? This picture book is a tribute to grandparents. It shows how simple, everyday moments become treasured memories and how love can make a person the greatest in someone else's eyes.

The book is by Veera Hiranandani, a Newbery Honor author, with illustrations by Vesper Stamper, a National Book Award finalist.
