Grumpfort

Mo is a young villager in Bogfoss who has no wish to join the Wardens, the guards who keep the monsters of the surrounding woods at bay. Facing those creatures sounds far too frightening to him. After a goblin knocks him flat on his first patrol, though, Mo decides he must earn his reputation the hard way. He heads into the forbidden forest determined to capture a monster and become a hero.

Instead, he finds Grumpfort, a hidden fortress belonging to the monsters, and it is in trouble. Someone called the Grumpsnatcher has been carrying off the other monsters one by one. Mo teams up with a troll, a gnome and a fire-breathing snotwoggle to track down the culprit and bring the captives home. The story is full of comic mishaps and is packed with illustrations.
