Gwendy's Final Task

Gwendy Peterson has built a settled life as a writer with a strong reputation and a successful career in politics. That contentment ends one evening when Richard Farris, a visitor in a black bowler hat, arrives at her home holding a control panel. Over the years the device has grown so powerful that resisting its pull is getting harder, and Farris insists there is only one lasting way to be rid of it: Gwendy must travel to the International Space Station.

The journey is no simple errand. Once aboard, Gwendy faces a more immediate threat from a crew member determined to get his hands on the remote. Who he really is, how he learned about the device, and what he plans to do with it are all unanswered, and Gwendy has very little time to find out.

This is the third novel in the Gwendy's Button Box trilogy, following the earlier installments, and it was written by Stephen King with Richard Chizmar.
