Hard Rain

Bomber Brown is a British soldier posted to Northern Ireland during a period of violent unrest. He is ordered to suppress those who take up arms, yet he comes to respect the civilians he is meant to subdue, and his loyalties are pulled in two directions. The text also includes a poem titled Bomber's Lament.

The Wolves of the Radfan, the first book to feature Bomber Brown, covers his early years as a soldier fighting in the Middle East. Hard Rain is followed by The Darkness, in which Bomber lands in further trouble.

The Darkness moves between Northern Ireland and Switzerland and examines how thin the line between right and wrong can be, showing how readily a person can drift from one side to the other.
