Hendrix

Marking the year he would have turned 75, this illustrated gift book is the first of its kind to cover the life and work of Jimi Hendrix, a guitarist often ranked as the finest rock player ever. Although his time in the international spotlight lasted fewer than four years, his bold reworking of blues and rock still shapes musicians of many generations and styles.

Written by Gillian Gaar, a music journalist based in Seattle, the book traces his early years and his stint as a paratrooper in the Army. It also follows his work as a sideman on the chitlin' circuit, his self-imposed move to Britain, and his return to America, where his fame grew until his death in 1970.

The book's layout is as striking as the music it describes, filled with carefully chosen photographs, posters, picture sleeves, and other memorabilia. It is designed to be a complete visual tribute to Hendrix.
