Michael Adams is a former Olympic champion who has become one of Canada's best-known reality TV personalities. After a social media post insulting his fake showbiz wife sets off a scandal, he boards a flight to Australia to get away from it. He wants a few weeks of ordinary life, so he goes by the name "Adam" and joins the tourists rattling along the dusty Outback tracks in a worn-out pickup. A reward has been posted for his safe return, and his celebrity keeps tracking him down at the worst possible moments, so he needs a stronger disguise.

Evie Blake, a British backpacker, has stepped away from her hectic London life for a year of travel, hoping adventure will help her recover from a bruised heart and a growing distrust of people who lie. When an attractive Canadian she meets at a campground offers to drive her through the rugged Kimberley region of Western Australia, she accepts without knowing that a worldwide search is under way for him. He seems like just another traveler down on his luck. As the days grow hotter and the nights even more so, the question becomes how long Adam can keep his real identity hidden from her.

The novel is a playful, fast-moving romance built on quick, witty dialogue. It features a sweet, endearing hero, a capable heroine who wins him over, a road trip through striking Australian landscapes, and a few twists along the way. There is occasional strong language, and the intimate scenes are steamy and high in heat level, with each one serving the story.
