About this book
Liz is a journalist in Washington, DC, who has spent ten years rebuilding her life since her husband walked out on her. She edits My Turn, a weekly column in which readers write about their own lives. She has a comfortable routine, a close relationship with her teenage son, and a few romantic prospects, some more promising than others. She believes she has made peace with the shock and hurt of the divorce.
One day at the office, a letter arrives for the column that Liz cannot set aside. It was written by the woman her ex-husband later married. What begins as an unexpected exchange of letters between the two women takes on added weight because Liz alone knows how they are connected. As the correspondence deepens, she must ask whether some part of her still cares, how far she is willing to take this odd arrangement, and what might happen if the truth came out.
The novel is about fidelity and forgiveness. It follows one woman's second chapter and the bonds that still tie her to the life she left behind.
