Hidden Truths

Dani and Eric have been inseparable since Dani's family moved in next door during second grade. Their friendship is built on donuts, comic books, and summers camping on the Cape. Then one summer, the easy rhythm between them falls apart. An explosion injures Dani and takes away the thing she cares about most. Eric cannot shake the worry that he is responsible, and he is determined to learn exactly what happened. Dani, still raw from the injury, does not want his help. She would rather keep him at a distance and try to move on. Eric has a habit of abandoning things he starts, and he has resolved that this time he will see one through. As Eric digs deeper, his search threatens to set him against another friend, forcing him to ask where his real loyalty lies. The story alternates between Dani's and Eric's points of view and explores changing friendships, the lies people tell, the secrets they keep, and what it takes to forgive.
